About Absarokee, MT - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Absarokee, Montana is a census-designated place found in Stillwater County. It was originally named for the community’s first inhabitants – the Crow Indians – and today, about 1,300 people reside here. The Stillwater Mine is located near the community, and Absarokee is conveniently located 14 miles from Columbus along Highway 78. Absarokee has an elementary school, and the local high school was built in 1989. During the summer months when school is out, thousands of tourists pass through the community on a daily basis as they travel between Red Lodge and Columbus.

Despite the small size of the community, visitors have several things to do and see here. The downtown area is full of small shops that both residents and people passing through can enjoy. Anglers will want to visit the Stillwater River, which flows through town, as it offers superb trout fishing. Guided float trips down the river are also available, and the town also serves as a focal point for scenic drives through this portion of the state.

Absarokee experiences a continental climate, and winters here are bitterly cold at times. Average daily high temperatures reach the mid-30s from December through February, but the area receives several feet of snowfall each year. While outdoor recreation is popular throughout the season, there are many days when residents don’t venture out because of the extreme conditions. Gas or electric furnace systems are a necessity throughout the season.

The spring season in Absarokee is wet with many rainy days, and temperatures rise steadily into the summer months. The average daily high temperatures in July and August are about 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and summer storms are also common. Many residents invest in central air conditioning to stay comfortable throughout the year, and these systems are especially useful when heat waves make their way into the region.
